BFR Training with Ty McMillan, B3 Certified Coach

Ty McMillan has been a B3 BFR (blood flow restriction) certified personal trainer and coach since February 2020, and B3 bands are part of his own training.

What BFR training is

Blood flow restriction (BFR) training uses specially designed cuffs or bands worn around the upper arms or upper legs during exercise. The bands partly limit blood flow out of the working muscles, which lets people train with much lighter loads than usual. B3 is a BFR program that makes its own bands and certifies trainers and coaches in how to use them properly.

How Ty trains with B3 bands

In the photos below, Ty wears B3 bands on his upper arms, and on his upper legs too in some, during ordinary gym work: rope-handle cable curls, suspension-trainer exercises, push-ups and rowing. Apart from the bands, these are everyday gym exercises.

Learn BFR the right way

Like any training method, BFR should be learned with guidance from a qualified professional, which is what certification programs like B3 are for. See Ty's credentials, his training philosophy and the photo gallery, or follow along on Instagram at @dadbodwd.
